Plant-Based - Vegan Omega 3: Prevent inflammation with our vegan omega-3 soft gels! Omega-3 decreases inflammation in the body, helps boost and strengthen the immune system, and helps prevent diseases like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It also aids in joint pain relief.
DPA, DHA & EPA Vegan: Research has shown that DPA, an essential fatty acid, can more effectively inhibit inflammation than EPA. In your body, EPA is naturally turned into DPA because it’s better suited to controlling inflammation. DPA helps support your joints better than other essential fatty acids and allows you to maximise the benefits of omega-3.
Brain Health: Our plant-based omega-3 supplements are essential for brain function and development. They can help improve brain function in people with memory problems, such as those with Alzheimer's disease or other cognitive impairments.
Burp-less Formula: Farm-raised non-GMO algae, free of ocean-borne toxins, pollutants, and contaminants, form the basis of Qwell, ensuring you won't experience "fishy burps." You get the essential fatty acids you need daily from the same place fish get theirs: algae.
Physician Formulated: This product is made by an MD to support joint, heart, brain, and immune system health. Qwell delivers a large, clean dose of carrageenan-free vegan omega-3 supplements with vitamin E, including vegan DHA, EPA, and vegan DPA.
Why Time Magazine Calls Inflammation “The Silent Killer”
Dr. Jonny Bowden has said, "The standard American diet... causes inflammation due to its excess levels of sugars, grains, and omega-6 fatty acids and low levels of omega-3 fatty acids." The ratio of harmful fats to beneficial fats in the Western diet is 15:1, when it should be 1:1. This imbalance is a cause of inflammatory diseases. If your joints are inflamed, you may also have chronic inflammation that is causing damage to other parts of your body that you cannot see or feel. Inflammation reduces your odds of a long life, as if you were breathing an invisible poison gas. This is why Time magazine calls inflammation "the silent killer".
Finally, For The Millions Who Can’t Stand Fish Oil
Fish fat, the source of fish oil, stores toxins and poisons. So when you eat fish oil, you also eat the harmful stuff. Scientists at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Institute in Seattle linked high doses of fish oil to a 43% increased risk of prostate cancer overall and a 71% increased risk of aggressive prostate cancer.

Does Qwell™ contain any fish oil or krill oil?
Absolutely not! All of The Veggie Doctor products are vegan
Does Qwell™ contain Carrageenan or other harmful substances?
Great question! Thanks to feedback from customers like you, we have made some major changes to our formulation and eliminated harmful substances, such as carrageenan, rice bran oil (high in omega-6), artificial sweeteners (sorbitol, glycerine), and artificial colours, which are commonly found in other products! We have also switched to a one-piece, easily digestible softgel without carrageenan and other harmful ingredients.
What if I get an after-burp or sensitive oil based supplements?
As much as we have tried to create the perfect balance of ingredients, some are still sensitive to oils of any type, including algae oil. So, I do have a few recommendations that may help reduce or eliminate the 'algae' burps. Click here [link to helpful hints video] to watch our video with helpful hints.
1. If you are sensitive to oils, start with 1 capsule per day with a meal and work up to 2 capsules per day. This worked for most.
2. If your body responds well, take a Qwell™ softgel that contains vegetarian omega-3 with a meal in split doses, one in the morning and one at lunch. Those sensitive to oil-based supplements can take Qwell™ with meals and get little to no 'after burp.' If you take Qwell™ with food, your body will absorb it better, as your digestive system is turned on to digest the wide variety of nutrients, such as protein, carbohydrates, and fats, in your meal.
3. If that helps, but you are still getting an 'after burp’, it’s best to eat something, then take your capsule, then eat a little more to 'sandwich' your pill between layers of food.
4.Lastly, many customers have stated that refrigerating the capsules helps reduce burping, so I keep my bottle in the fridge.
How is the algae oil in Qwell™ Extracted?
The consensus is that we should be taking about 500–1000 mg of Omega-3s daily for general health if we eat a healthy, well-balanced diet. This dosage would be 2 softgels per day (820mg of Omega’3’s). Unfortunately, the western diet is not very balanced and very high in omega-6s such as processed seed and vegetable oils, which can increase inflammation and could contribute to a higher risk of many chronic diseases. The proper ratio for omega-3:omega-6 is 1:4. A typical westernized diet has a ratio of 1:16, almost 4x higher than the recommended ratio! The following are recommendations established by The Global Organization for EPA & DHA Omega-3’s (GOED).

500 mg: For the general healthy adult population, to lower the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD)
700 – 1000mg’s: For pregnancy/lactation
>1g: Higher intakes are supported for a range of additional health conditions (ie: blood pressure, triglycerides).
If you feel that your ratio is skewed towards Omega-6s (pro-inflammatory Omegas), increasing the dosage to 3 or 4 softgels/day may be beneficial.
You spoke and we listened! We are making the change to Methylfolate.
At The Veggie Doctor™, we pride ourselves on listening to our customers. We are changing to methylfolate instead of folic acid (synthetic B9). We are happy to say that moving forward, any of our folic acid products will be replaced with methylfolate, starting with Luxor™ Vegan Collagen.
Why is Folic Acid in most multivitamins?
In one word: COST! Unfortunately, many supplement companies make their products with the least expensive forms of vitamins in mind. Folic acid is much cheaper than the active form, Methylfolate. Methylfolate will now be used in our products at no extra cost.
What is Methylfolate?
Folate or folic acid is vitamin B9. Folic Acid is the synthetic form of Folate. The body does not produce folate, so folate is used to fortify foods or taken through our supplements, but it has been found that specific genetic mutations cannot convert folic acid to folate. Methylfolate is the more natural and active form of folate that can be more easily synthesized.
Why did we make the change to Methylfolate?
The MTHFR enzyme is found throughout the body and converts folic acid or folate to its active form, Methyl Folate. Methylfolate is active in producing red blood cells, DNA biosynthesis, maintaining DNA, supporting immune function, and energy production. It also aids in the production of neurotransmitters in the brain, such as serotonin, dopamine, and epinephrine. Because of this, methylfolate is best for people with the MTHFR mutation.
The MTHFR mutation is prevalent, and up to 60 per cent of people may have at least one genetic mutation in their MTHFR gene. This gene instructs your body to make an enzyme that converts folic acid into the active form, L-methylfolate. If you have two genetic mutations in your MTHFR gene, your ability to convert folic acid into the active form is reduced by an estimated 70 per cent. Women with this genetic mutation may have an increased risk of migraines. This mutation can also lead to infertility and neural tube defects during pregnancy.
Methylfolate requires fewer conversions and can start working right away. It is already in its active form, does not need the MTHFR enzyme, and can start working right away. Folic Acid requires four conversions and is highly dependent on individual genetics and other nutrients for an effective conversion.
